How are lessons like during Online Live! Learning (OLL™) period?
Very much like the physical weekly lessons you have been attending at our Waterloo or Bishan Centre, just that the platform is online. We create this protocol to ensure the engagement and interaction between you and Mr Chua remain. His wrinkles and botak-ness remain clearly visible. His voice is as energetic and loud as ever 🙂
- Whiteboard teaching of key concepts
- Exam-based questions discussion
- Ask any questions freely
- WhatsApp for clarification of doubts, just like what many of you are already doing
- Graded assignment is to be submitted for marking after each topic is completed.
Schedule of OLL™ follows your current physical lessons. If you are not able to make it for your scheduled lessons, please contact admin (Ai Ling) at 88290998. She will schedule you for another lesson.

On top of this, Mr Chua will be working even harder on his rest day to ensure you can learn equally effective if not even better than physical lessons. There will be an additional Q & A session on every Monday at the following time intervals, complimentary for all current students. If you are not able to make it, the recorded videos will be emailed to you.

How effective will this Online Live Learning (OLL™) System be for you?
Based on the conversations with students from different schools, the home-based learning conducted by schools involves one of the following:
- Self-reading of notes with no teaching at all!
- Learning through recorded videos without time for clarification.
- Live-streaming of lessons but many students feedback that they can’t understand and see what the teachers are writing.
As you can see, learning in schools has been transformed drastically. Many students are lost like a sheep. You no longer know what to focus on. Now is the time keep calm and continue learning especially for Chemistry where every topic is connected.
Our goal remains the same: Pass Chemistry with Distinction despite these short-term challenges. Please stay focused and not be distracted.
What do you need to get started?
- Computer/ laptop/ tablet with audio and video
- Wifi connection
You are encouraged to test your system at https://zoom.us/test before you start OLL™.
How can I log into the Online Live! Learning lesson?
- We will email you the notes in advance. Please print them for easy reference.
- You will also receive in your email, an invitation from Zoom to attend the online lesson. (You do not need to register a Zoom account to attend the lesson)
- Please log in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled lesson to test your system.
- Early birds can ask Mr Chua questions while waiting for the lesson to start, just like the physical classes.
- The online lesson will start at the scheduled time. Your audio and video will be muted to minimise background noise and disruption.
- At 40th minutes: we will unmute your audio and video for you to ask questions for 5-10 minutes.
- 50th – 60th minutes: Break time.
- 60th-120th minutes: Lesson completes.
- Recorded lesson will be emailed to you by end of the day. You can listen to Mr Chua lessons again anytime.
